BEAUMONT, Texas –Following a week away from competition, The Nicholls State University men's basketball team battles Lamar University Wednesday at the Montagne Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Colonels (12-8, 6-1 SLC) are riding a four-game winning streak, resulting in their best start through seven league games since 1998. Nicholls is currently tied with Southeastern Louisiana for first place in the Southland standings.
The Colonels return to the road for the first time since Jan. 6 when they defeated Houston Baptist 72-71. Nicholls is searching for its first win in Beaumont since 2014.
The red and gray most recently posted a dominant 91-61 victory over Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. Senior guard
Tevon Saddler shot 80 percent from the field en route to a game-high 23 points. The Aberdeen, Maryland, native has scored in double figures in seven straight contests.

The Cardinals (12-8, 4-3 SLC) are on a two-game winning streak, erasing a 15-ponit halftime deficit against Sam Houston State Saturday before prevailing 84-77 in overtime. Nick Garth tallied a game-high 29 points while playing 40 minutes off the bench. Colton Weisbrod fronts the team with 16.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
