HOUSTON – The Nicholls State University men's basketball team winds down a two-game road stint Saturday at Houston Baptist University. Tipoff at Sharp Gym is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Colonels (8-8, 2-1 SLC) committed a season-high 23 turnovers in their last contest, an 81-64 loss to SFA. Senior guard
Roddy Peters tallied a game-high 25 points after being held scoreless during his seven minutes versus UIW.

Tevon Saddler, Nicholls' top scorer in league play, contributed his third consecutive and 14

Kimani Jackson is averaging 12.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game in SLC games while shooting a team-best 62 percent (13-21) from the field.
Freshmen
Kevin Johnson and
Ryghe Lyons, both starting the last seven games, are continuing to perform at a high level. Johnson, inserted into the starting lineup against Presbyterian on Nov. 23, has the 19
th-best assist-to-turnover ratio in the country at 3.2. Lyons has blocked multiple shots in five consecutive games, boasting the most swats per game (3.0) in the Southland.
Considering conference play, the Colonels rank atop the league in scoring defense (62.3 ppg), field goal percentage defense (.376) and steals per game (11.0).
The Huskies (4-11, 0-2 SLC) have dropped four straight, including two to SLC opponents Lamar and New Orleans. Leading scorer Josh Ibarra hasn't played in the last five games. Taking over production for Ibarra have been Jalon Gates and Ian DuBose, scoring 18.5 and 17.5 points per game, respectively, in league play. HBU is the top offensive rebounding team in the nation (16.3 ORPG).
