THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University volleyball team left campus Wednesday to face UCA Thursday ahead of a Saturday matchup with Stephen F. Austin.

The Colonels (3-19, 1-8 SLC) have claimed a set in six of the last seven matches despite just one victory, a 3-0 sweep over Southeastern Louisiana on Sept. 27. Nicholls recently dropped games to Sam Houston State and Abilene Christian, the second- and third-ranked teams in the league.

Considering SLC play, senior right-side hitter Brieanna Hill fronts the squad with 2.8 kills per set followed by freshman outside hitter Katie Jones' 2.2. Freshman middle blocker Aaliyah Burras flaunts the team's best hitting percentage at .280.

at UCA | Oct. 18 | 6 p.m.

Both Sugar Bears' (16-5, 6-2 SLC) conference losses have come by way of the Ladyjacks (21-2, 8-0 SLC). UCA surrendered just two sets during its six-match SLC winning streak. The Sugar Bears lead the Southland in assists per set (12.7), kills per set (13.7) and hitting percentage (.302). UCA is 6-1 at the Prince Center this season.

Preseason All-First Team selection and 2017 Southland Conference Player of the Year Samantha Anderson spearheads the squad with 3.68 kills per set at a .370 clip, sitting third and fourth, respectively, in the league rankings.

SFA owns the nation's second-longest winning streak at 18 matches and boasts the highest win count at 21. The Ladyjacks rank atop the Southland in blocks per set (3.0), digs per set (18.8) and opponent hitting percentage (.130).
SFA's Anyia Williams and Danae Daron are second and third amongst the Southland's block leaders with setter Ann Hollas coming in at eighth. The Ladyjacks are 10-0 inside Shelton Gym this season.
