THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University men's basketball team will continue its seven-game road swing against Washington State University Sunday at 6 p.m. CT inside Beasley Coliseum.

Graduate transfer
Jeremiah Jefferson tallied 24 points, all in the second half, in the Colonels 85-72 defeat to Louisville on Thursday. Jefferson drained seven consecutive 3-pointers along with three free throws to spearhead the Nicholls' (1-1) offense for the second straight contest. Transferring from Jackson State, Jefferson is averaging 26 points per game as he put up 28 against Mississippi College.
Sophomore
Kevin Johnson is managing the floor well at point guard, averaging 10.5 points complemented by 13 assists to just two turnovers. Graduate transfer
Gavin Peppers already has two double-figure performances and is tied with junior
Brandon Moore Jr. as the team's leader in rebounds per game (6.0).
The Colonels sank at least 10 treys in both of their games and have made 75 percent of free throws.
This will be the season opener for the Cougars, who are 95-22 in season openers, including a 56-8 mark at home. WSU has won its last 28 season openers at Beasley Coliseum. The Cougars return three starters from last year's squad, including three of its top four scorers, highlighted by the 2017-18 Pac-12 Most Improved Player of the Year in Robert Franks (17.4 ppg).
