THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University volleyball team will close its 2018 season in Stopher Gym this weekend, hosting Stephen F. Austin for Senior Night Thursday and welcoming the University of Central Arkansas for the finale on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. Saturday.

The Colonels (3-24, 1-13 SLC) are on a 10-match losing skid but have recently received exceptional performances from junior
Heidi Carpenter, freshman
Aaliyah Burras and sophomores
Sydney Swann and
Kimberly Iwunze.
Carpenter recorded her second triple-double of the season on Oct. 25 against UIW, totaling 25 assists, 14 digs and 10 kills. Burras pounded a career-high 14 kills against the Cardinals. Swann and Iwunze set new career highs with 11 kills against Abilene Christian and New Orleans, respectively.
Hill continues to spearhead the squad in league play with 2.4 kills per set, managing at least five kills in all but two league matches this season. Nicholls sits first in the Southland with 1.5 aces per set.
The Ladyjacks (27-2, 14-0) have not lost a match since Sept. 1, riding a 24-match winning streak. Middle blocker Danae Daron was named the SportsImports/AVCA NCAA Division I Player of the Week Tuesday as she averaged 2.8 kills and 2.5 blocks per set in victories over Sam Houston State and Abilene Christian.
The Sugar Bears' (22-5, 12-2) two conference losses have come at the hands of SFA. UCA has won six in a row with an 18-2 sets advantage. In league play, the Sugar Bears rank first in assists per set (12.7), kills per set (13.7) and hitting percentage (.258).
