BOSTON – Following a 16-day hiatus from competition, the Nicholls State University men's basketball squad travels northeast for a battle with Boston University Saturday at Case Gym. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (12 p.m. CT).
The game will be broadcast on NESN (DirecTV channel 628) and online on the Patriot League Network.
Nicholls has had recent success in the New England area, defeating Boston College 79-73 in its 2016-17 season opener.
The Colonels (5-4) are riding a three-game winning streak, topping N.C. Central and Western Michigan to place fifth in the Emerald Coast Classic and running away with a 20-point victory over Spring Hill College at Stopher Gym in their most recent game.
Graduate transfers
Jeremiah Jefferson (Jackson State) and
Gavin Peppers (Central Michigan) have become immediate-impact players for Nicholls. Jefferson has fronted the team in scoring in six of nine games while Peppers has poured in double figures in all but three games. Jefferson (16.6 ppg) ranks third in the Southland in scoring.
The Colonels received their first double-double of the season when junior
Brandon Moore Jr. dropped 12 points and 10 boards against the Badgers. Nicholls had three student-athletes record double-digit rebounds, including career highs by junior
Elvis Harvey (11) and senior
Daniel Regis (10).
This marks the first-ever meeting between the two sides. The Terriers (6-5) dropped their most recent contest to Dartmouth, 78-68. Leading scorer Max Mahoney tallied a team-high 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting. BU has reached the Patriot League semifinal the past two seasons.
