THIBODAUX, La. — The Nicholls State University women's basketball team will wrap up 2018 and its nonconference schedule with a matchup against William Carey University on Friday, Dec. 21. Tipoff in Stopher Gym is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.

Nicholls (5-6) will look to stay perfect at home where the Colonels have won all both of its two games by an average of 31 points. The first win was an 86-49 decision over NAIA SUNO, and the last victory came against Mississippi Valley State, 72-47.
The Colonels fell to under .500 following their loss at LSU Tuesday night. The Lady Tigers shot 47 percent for the game, which was the second highest for a Nicholls opponent this season. On offense, the Colonels made 17 field goals, with
Cassidy Barrios accounting for seven on 12 attempts. The senior guard finished with her seventh double-double of the season, totaling 18 points with 13 rebounds.

Chrystal Ezechukwu have led the team at home. Barrios had a triple-double in the win over SUNO and a double-double against Mississippi Valley, averaging 22.5 points, 13.0 rebounds and 7.5 assists at Stopher. Ezechukwu also had a double-double against Valley, finishing with a career-high 15 points and 13 rebounds.
William Carey, which competes at the NAIA level, is 2-5 on the year and dropped both of its exhibition games against Division I opponents. The Lady Crusaders opened the season with an 82-38 loss to South Alabama and were then defeated 74-48 at Southern Miss.
WCU and Nicholls have one common opponent, Spring Hill College. Nicholls played Spring Hill in an exhibition game to start the season, winning 85-71. The Badgers won at home against William Carey, 78-54.
