THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University men's basketball squad faces Houston Baptist University Saturday afternoon on Broussard Court at Stopher Gym. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. or approximately 30 minutes following the women's game.

The Colonels (15-9, 9-2 SLC) topped Abilene Christian 69-65 on the road Wednesday, marking their seventh win in the last eight games. Senior Roddy Peters neared a triple-double with 18 points, nine rebounds and seven assists while fellow senior Kimani Jackson converted a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.

Nicholls narrowly escaped the Huskies in a 72-71 win at Sharp Gym on Jan. 6, marking the first road victory over HBU since 2014. The Colonels boast a 5-1 record at Stopher Gym in league play. Peters, playing the last 15 games in a sixth man role, ranks second in the league with 19.2 points per game.

HBU (5-19, 1-10 SLC) has a slew of young talent with freshman David Caraher leading the pack. During league play, he ranks second in scoring with 19.7 points per game, followed by sophomore Jalon Gates (14.5) and freshman Ian DuBose (14.4) in 12th and 13th respectively. The Huskies are 0-13 away from Sharp Gym this season.
