THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls soccer team is set to begin a six-game homestand at the Nicholls Soccer Complex with a match against Prairie View A&M University on Sunday after taking on Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, Mississippi on Friday.

Kickoff against MVSU is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday; Sunday's match against PVAMU is set to commence at 1 p.m. at the Nicholls Soccer Complex. Admission to all home games is free.

The Colonels enter the weekend with an 0-2 record, having fallen to the University of North Dakota on Friday and Grambling State University Sunday.

The Colonels lost to UND 0-3 after surrendering two goals to the Fighting Hawks in the first 10 minutes of the game. UND earned its final goal on a corner kick in the 56^th minute. Senior Haylee Atwell and redshirt senior Alison Ward led the team with three shot attempts each.

Sunday's match against Grambling saw Ward score her first career goal on a deflection by the Lady Tigers' keeper in the 16^th minute. Grambling ultimately defeated the Colonels 2-1, scoring in the 24^th minute and on a penalty kick in the 56^th minute.

The Devilettes enter Friday's match with a record of 0-2 on losses to Mercer and The Citadel.

The Citadel topped MVSU 5-2, with two of its goals coming in the first 25 minutes of the match. Karenth Zabala-Terrazas and Laadi Issaka scored for the Devilettes in the 29^th and 34^th minutes respectively. An All-SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference) performer, Issaka led the team with five total shots.

​​​​​​​MVSU fell to Mercer 5-0, finishing with only five total shot attempts. The Bears earned their initial goal in the 28^th minute before scoring four goals between the 56^th and 66^th minutes.

In its lone match of the opening weekend, PVAMU fell to McNeese State University 1-0 on its home pitch. McNeese's only goal came in the 25^th minute against freshman goalie Quinn Josiah.
