Live Stats

THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls soccer team is scheduled to continue a stretch of games on its home pitch with contests against Jackson State University on Friday and Alcorn State University on Sunday.

Kickoff for Friday's match against Jackson State is set for 4 p.m. at the Nicholls Soccer Complex, while Sunday's contest against Alcorn is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Home-game admission is free.

The Colonels (0-4) head into this weekend's matches following a 3-1 loss on the road to Mississippi Valley State University on Aug. 24 and a 1-0 overtime loss at home to Prairie View A&M University on Aug. 26.

MVSU topped the Colonels after scoring twice in the first half and once more in the second. Senior Francesca Curteis put up the Colonels' lone goal in the 16th minute on an assist from sophomore Hannah Bodron.  Curteis, senior Kristyn Daniels, junior Elisabet Gunnthorsdottir and junior Kristy Helmers led the Colonels with three shots each.

Nicholls fell to PVAMU in a sudden-death overtime after a lengthy lightning delay on Sunday. Curteis led the team's 26 total shots with eight shots, including four on goal.

Jackson State (0-3) enters Friday's match following losses to Jacksonville State University, the University of North Alabama and the University of Tennessee at Martin.

The Tigers lost to Jacksonville State 7-0 before going on to fall to North Alabama 7-1 and UT Martin 10-0. Jalah Carter put up the only goal for the team.

Goalkeeper Faith Tonnies proves to be a player to watch, ranking 29th in the country in saves per game (6.33) and 48th in total saves (19).

Alcorn holds a record of 0-2, with losses to Southeastern Louisiana University and Mississippi University for Women.

The Braves fell to Southeastern 8-0, putting up only one total shot in the game, and to MUW 2-1 after Yaira Guardado scored its only goal in the 4th minute of play.
