THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University soccer team tallied four second-half goals en route to a 6-0 stomping of Alcorn State University Sunday afternoon at Yockey Bernard Field.
Senior midfielder
Francesca Curteis continued her recent hot streak, contributing two goals and an assist. The Llanfyllin, Great Britain, native scored in the 14
th minute following a beautiful through ball from redshirt senior
Alison Ward and again in the 55
th minute. Curteis returned the favor in the 56
th minute, finding Ward in the box to put the Colonels (2-4) ahead 4-0.
Nicholls' first goal came in the seventh minute when senior midfielder
Kristyn Daniels fired a shot that Lady Braves keeper Kameran Proby deflected into the run of junior forward

Chloe Shipway earned her first goal in the red and gray during the 73
rd minute, receiving a through ball from junior
Tessa Calabria before chipping it around the keeper.
The final score for the Colonels came in the 79
th minute on an Alcorn (0-3) own goal.
Nicholls totaled 36 shots, including 18 on target. Curteis fronted the squad with eight shots followed by Calabria and Shipway with five apiece.
The Lady Braves managed just five shots. Yaira Guardado carried Alcorn offensively with three attempts and two on target that were both saved by junior goalkeeper
Roosa Hurmerinta.
The Colonels will have Friday off before hosting Southern Miss on Sunday at 1 p.m.
