Colonels host Houston Baptist Friday, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Sunday

THIBODAUX, La. – Playing four of its next five matches at home, The Nicholls State University soccer team will resume Southland Conference play Friday against Houston Baptist University and Sunday versus Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the Nicholls Soccer Complex.

The Colonels (2-7, 0-2 SLC) dropped their first two conference matches at UIW and Abilene Christian. Senior Francesca Curteis, Nicholls' offensive leader with six goals, converted a penalty kick in the final minute of the match against the Cardinals. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Jade Gallaher totaled a career-high eight saves despite a 1-0 defeat to the Wildcats.

Houston Baptist | Friday, Sept. 28 | 4 p.m.

The Huskies (4-5-1, 2-0-1 SLC) commenced conference play by blanking Abilene Christian 1-0 and Stephen F. Austin 3-0 before tying Sam Houston State 1-1. Jessica Nevils and Talin Rizo have two goals apiece in league battles.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi | Sunday, Sept. 30 | 1 p.m.

The Islanders (4-2-2, 1-0-1 SLC) shut out both of their SLC opponents, topping Sam Houston State 1-0 in overtime and tying Stephen F. Austin in a scoreless draw. The golden goal versus the Bearkats came off an Addison Urbanus header on a corner kick. Nicholls has never lost to A&M-Corpus Christi, winning all five matches dating back to 2013.
