THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University men's basketball team will put its 4-0 home record on the line Wednesday when it faces Stephen F. Austin at Stopher Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Fans can follow the game on ESPN New Orleans 100.3 FM with Voice of the Colonels
Bryant Johnson on the call. The video stream will be provided by the Southland Digital Network, available on the Southland Conference app found on Roku, Apple TV, Android TV and Amazon Fire.
The Colonels (8-7, 1-1 SLC) are searching for their first win against the Lumberjacks (8-5, 1-0) in nine years. Nicholls has been upended by SFA 11 straight times, most recently in last year's Southland Conference Tournament semifinal.
The Colonels shot 22.2 percent (6-27) from long range on Saturday, its second-worst shooting performance of the season that resulted in a 65-58 setback at UIW. Junior
Brandon Moore Jr. collected 15 points and eight rebounds, nearly tallying his fourth double-double of the season.
Graduate transfer
Jeremiah Jefferson continues to pace Nicholls' offense with 16.5 points per game, but the Dallas native is just 1-for-12 from beyond the arc in league play. Despite the rough start, Jefferson still fronts the Southland with 3.1 triples per game.
Graduate transfer
Gavin Peppers is 40-of-42 from the free-throw line; his 95.2 free throw percentage ranks atop Division I.
SFA is coming off a 65-60 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday, battling the Colonels on a full week's rest from competition. The Lumberjacks are spearheaded offensively by Shannon Bogues' 17.5 points per game. Bogues sits first in the league in minutes per game (35:43) and 3-point percentage (41.2).
