Colonels open home slate Monday with Kids Day vs. Paul Quinn

THIBODAUX, La. – Following three tough games on the road, the Nicholls State University women's basketball team will make its home debut Monday morning as the Colonels welcome Paul Quinn College for Kids Day at Stopher Gymnasium.

Nicholls (0-3) has had a bit of a slow start to the 2019-20 season, scoring exactly 47 points in each of its three losses. But the team has faced the 35th toughest schedule to date with all three opponents - Rice, No. 21 Indiana, and TCU - coming off postseason appearances last year. 

Adrian Mann leads the team in scoring with 8.3 points per game and is shooting 40 percent from the field. Mann has knocked down 5 of 11 3-pointers and is tied with freshman Terris McKay (7.7 ppg) for the team lead behind the arc. Chrystal Ezechukwu is also averaging 7.7 points and has a team-high 6.3 rebounding average.

Nicholls is coming off an impressive 11-1 record at home last season, which was the most wins of any team in program history. The Colonels won their final five games in Stopher and picked up a win in the opener against SUNO.

Paul Quinn College competes at the NAIA level in the Red River Conference. The Tigers are 2-2 with wins over Tougaloo and Bacone College. Symone Carmenar leds PQC in scoring at 18.8 points per game. Carmenar opened the season with a 30-point outing in the win over Tougaloo.    

KIDS DAY
The opener will be Nicholls' annual Kids Day. The stands will be filled with local elementary students. It last year's Kids Day, the Colonels cruised to an 86-49 victory against SUNO behind a triple-double by Cassidy Barrios.
