THIBODAUX, La. -- The Nicholls State University women's soccer program (3-14-1, 0-11-0 Southland) put together the team's most competitive league match of the year in the season finale against Southeastern Louisiana (4-13-1, 3-8-0 Southland), as the rival Lady Lions broke the tie late before sealing a 5-2 victory at the Nicholls Soccer Complex in Thibodaux, La.
KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS

Blaire Laiche & the Red & Gray offense bounced back quickly to even the match before halftime, zipping a goal into the back of the net at the 38th minute to force a 1-1 score at the break. The Colonels pressed the attack to open the second half, grabbing the squad's first lead in conference play behind junior

Elisabet Gunnthorsdottir. Southeastern Louisiana would even the match at 2-2 just eight minutes later and retake the lead at the 67th minute; with under 10 minutes to play, the Lady Lions would tack on a pair of insurance goals to close out the final score at 5-2.

Roosa Hurmerinta worked the first 45 minutes between the posts for the Colonels, surrendering a lone goal while grabbing seven saves, before redshirt junior
Jade Gallaher stepped in at halftime, giving up four scores on the day with five total saves.
