THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University men's tennis team played at the Colonel Tennis Complex for the first time this spring, but the Colonels were shutout by UTSA 7-0 Friday afternoon.
The loss dropped the squad to 0-4 on the season. Both men's and women's teams return to action Sunday at Samford.
UTSA (3-1) swept doubles play for a 1-0 lead, then went on to win all six singles matches in straight sets. On courts 5 and 6,
Moritz Borges and
Alvaro Barranco Vilaltella had close second sets, but neither could prevent the shutout. Borges ended up falling 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) and Barranco was defeated 6-2, 7-5.
