THIBODAUX,La. - The Nicholls State University women's and men's tennis teams picked up another sweep in nonconference play with a pair of wins against Jackson State Saturday at the Colonel Tennis Complex.
The women (2-2) earned another 4-0 shutout while the men (2-5) took down the Tigers, 4-1.
The men battled a tough three matches to earn the doubles point. Once singles began, sets were close, but the Colonels did a good job pulling them out.
Tobias Lentz and Alvarro Barranco Vilaltella won straight set-matches before
Nestor Giribet Lopez had his chance in a close match to earn the victory.
The women started strong and finished with the doubles point.
Antonia Roessli worked in a business-like fashion to earn the first singles point. Maria Kozochok fought back from a set down to earn the next and kept the momentum building. She finished her match to clinch the team victory.
"Today was a great day of competition and growth, and we are excited about building on another winning week. Thank you to all the fan support: community tennis players, students, athletes, professors, and staff," the Nicholls tennis coaching staff said.
