HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The Nicholls State University men's basketball team looks to get back on the right track Wednesday when it faces the No. 1 team in the Southland, Sam Houston State, at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
The Colonels (11-14, 4-8 SLC) have dropped seven of their last eight, squeezing in a 64-63 win at New Orleans on Feb. 9. The Bearkats (17-9, 12-1 SLC) suffered their first league defeat of the season Saturday at Lamar, 75-72.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Matt Pedersen and Matt Trent on the call. Fans can also follow the game on ESPN New Orleans 100.3 FM with voice of the Colonels,
Bryant Johnson, on the mic.
Nicholls is currently 11th in the league standings with five of its final six games in Stopher Gym.
The Colonels most recently fell 88-82 at Houston Baptist despite graduate transfers
Jeremiah Jefferson and
Gavin Peppers pouring in 22 points apiece. Nicholls connected on 13 3-pointers, but the Huskies made a 19-2 second-half run to steal the win.
Cameron Delaney leads the Bearkats in scoring with 12.7 points per game and is hitting 50.7 percent of his 3-point shots in SLC play. He is averaging 17.0 ppg over the last five.
