NEW ORLEANS – The Nicholls State University men's basketball team is hoping to snap its five-game losing skid Saturday when it faces the University of New Orleans at 4:15 p.m. at Lakefront Arena.
The Colonels (10-12, 3-6 SLC) last victory was on Jan. 12 when they eked out a 77-76 triumph over Houston Baptist. Nicholls has won just one road conference contest this season, a 78-72 beating of Northwestern State in its league opener.
The Colonels have seen a recent surge of production from junior
Danny Garrick. The Parker, Colorado, product has drained five triples in three consecutive games, raising his scoring output from 6.4 to 7.9 points per game.
Graduate transfer
Jeremiah Jefferson has been a steady force for Nicholls, tallying double figures in seven straight contests.
The Colonels have been riddled with injuries, playing at Southeastern without the services of junior
Brandon Moore Jr., the team's leading rebounder.
The Privateers (13-9, 8-3 SLC) have won four in a row, two each against UIW and Northwestern State. Ezekiel Charles is averaging a team-best 15.1 ppg and 7.1 rpg in league play. UNO ranks fourth in Division I and atop the Southland with 10.1 steals per game.
