Colonels fall at Jackson State, host LSUA Wednesday

JACKSON, Miss - The Nicholls State University baseball team received a 4-for-4 outing at the plate from Brady Bell, but a pair of three-run innings gave Jackson State a 6-0 victory Tuesday night at Braddy Field.

Nicholls dropped to 19-21 overall and will look to bounce back Wednesday at home against LSU-Alexandria. First pitch at Didier Field is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Bell had over half of the Colonels' hits on the night as they finished with seven along with five walks, but Nicholls stranded nine runners on base. Jackson State (26-18) pounded out 10 hits and were able to take advantage of three Colonel errors for five unearned runs. The Tigers scored three in the second and again in the fourth.

Nick Heckman took the loss, giving up seven hits in 3.2 innings. All six of JSU's runs were charged to Heckman, but only one was earned. Peter Holland led the bullpen with 1.2 innings of hitless work.

Along with Bell, Austin France had a multi-hit effort with two, which was his third in the last four games. Champ Davison also singled for the Colonels.
