BEAUMONT, Texas -- The Nicholls State University women's soccer program (3-4-1, 0-1-0 Southland) dropped the team's Southland Conference opener at Lamar (4-5-0, 1-0-0 Southland) on Saturday evening, faltering to the Cardinals by a 6-0 margin at the LU Soccer Complex in Beaumont, Texas.

-- The Cardinals secured control of the match early after bolting out to a 5-0 edge in the first half, closing the match with 27 total shots -- 18 on goal -- and four corner kicks. Meanwhile, the Red & Gray challenged the Lamar defense with 12 total shots -- three on goal -- and one corner kick of their own.
