THIBODAUX, La. -- Despite an overall competitive performance from the pitching staff, the Nicholls State University baseball program (4-6, 0-0 Southland) were unable to prevent visiting LIU (2-4, 0-0 NEC) from evening the four-game weekend series at one win apiece, falling to the Sharks by a final 3-0 mark Saturday evening at Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field.
LIU jumped on top of the contest early, picking up a quick lead in the first frame before adding solo insurance runs in both the fifth and ninth innings as well. Meanwhile, the Colonels finished with nine runners left-on-base, including three to wrap up the first along with two in each the second and sixth stanzas.
