THIBODAUX, La. -- Coming off its first Southland Conference victory of the season, the Nicholls State University women's volleyball team looks to carry that momentum into its rematch against Southeastern on Thursday, Oct. 21. in Hammond, Louisiana. First serve at the University Center is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN+.

Nicholls (8-11, 1-6 SLC) dropped a tough 3-1 match to the Lady Lions just last Thursday but bounced back with a win Saturday against Northwestern State by the same count. Emily Gauthreaux was the offensive star in the victory, hammering home 24 kills in only four sets to match her career high. The Houma native heads into the matchup ranked fifth in the Southland in kills per set at 2.95 kills. Defensively, fellow senior Kylie Lockhart totaled 51 digs in the two contests and claimed the team's first Southland Conference Player of the Week, earning the nod for defensive POW.

Last Thursday against SLU (7-12, 5-2 SLC), the Colonels were fueled by a raucous crowd and won the first set, 25-21, before jumping out to an 11-0 lead in the second. The Lady Lions posted a tremendous comeback to take the second and went on to spoil the Colonels' Senior Day with a 21-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-13 victory.

UP NEXT
The trip to Hammond starts a heavy road swing for the Colonels to close out the regular season. Nicholls will play five of its final seven matches on the road, starting with the next three. The Red and Gray will have Saturday off before heading to Texas to battle A&M-Corpus Christi and UIW next weekend.
