SAN ANTONIO, Texas - After falling in the first two sets, the Nicholls State University volleyball team fought back to extend its match at UIW with a third-set victory, but the Cardinals would go on to sweep the season series with a 25-23, 25-16, 18-25, 25-21 victory Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, Nicholls slipped to 9-13, 2-8 SLC while UIW improved to 10-16, 5-6 SLC.
KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS
-- The teams were nearly identical in every stat category with UIW holding a .288-.257 in hitting percentage.
-- Nicholls racked up double digit aces (11) for the first time in conference, but also had nine serving errors. The 11 aces was the second most for the team this season.

Katie Jones and
Emily Gauthreaux led the attack with 12 kills each. Gauthreaux also had five aces, most since having six in the 2019 win over UIW.

Lilly Bivens dished out 41 assists with only one ball-handling error. The assists matched her third highest total for the season.

Kate Hoerdemann and
Kylie Lockhart led the team with 10 and 12 digs, respectively.
