Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

TCU rallies to defeat Colonels, 63-50

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Nicholls State University men's basketball team held a 13-point lead early in the second half at TCU, but the Horned Frogs allowed just 12 points the rest of the way as the Colonels dropped a 63-50 contest Thursday night in Schollmaier Arena.

Nicholls (3-2) shot just 32 percent in the loss and had a season-high 19 turnovers. Three players finished in double figures in scoring, led by Ty Gordon's 12 points.

Gordon's first 3-pointer gave the Colonels their largest advantage at 38-25 at the 17:21 mark, but TCU (3-0) answered with the game's next 13 points to tie it up. Gordon hit another 3-pointer to end the drought; however, the Horned Frogs followed with a 9-0 run as they outscored Nicholls 22-3 over a 10-minute stretch.

The Colonels never came closer than four points the rest of the way.

Devante Carter and Latrell Jones scored 11 points each while Emmanuel Little came off the bench for a team-high eight rebounds.

Despite leading 30-24 at halftime, Nicholls started as cold on offense as it finished. The Colonels scored just two points in the first 7:30 but used a 9-0 run to take the lead. Carter scored five points in the run, capping it with a 3-ball. Nicholls then saw its largest lead of the half at nine on a putback slam by Jones in the final seconds, but the Colonels fouled Francisco Farabello on a 3-pointer at the buzzer. He connected on all three free throws to cut the deficit to six.

Nicholls scored the first five points of the second half, going up 35-24 on a Pierce Spencer 3-pointer and a Ryghe Lyons dunk. But after Gordon's 3-pointer, it was all TCU from then on.

TCU was led with 16 points by Mike Miles. He made 6 of 7 at the free throw line to help TCU's 12-plus advantage at the charity stripe.
