PHOENIX, Ariz. - Two tough losses for the Nicholls State University women's basketball team in Arizona came in two different fashions as Montana raced out to a 25-point lead in the first quarter to go on to hand the Colonels an 80-45 setback Saturday in GCU Arena.

While Friday's opponent GCU poured it on late after the game was all but over, Montana (5-1) scored the first 14 points against the Colonels (2-5) and led 29-4 after the first quarter. Nicholls was more competitive the rest of the way, even outscoring the Lady Griz in the third quarter, 17-15, but never came closer than 23 points.

Chyna Allen led the team in scoring for the fourth consecutive game, finishing with 19 points and six rebounds. Eleven of her points came in the third to help the Colonels cut into the deficit. Bryanna Washington also scored 12 points and led the Nicholls with three steals.

Sophia Stiles paced the Lady Griz with 19 points and was one of three players with three 3-pointers. Montana hit 14 of 22 from long range and finished 52 percent from the field.
