Nicholls concludes season with 2-0 loss to McNeese in SLC Tournament

Final Stats CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – No. 2 seed McNeese defeated the No. 7 Nicholls State University women's soccer team by the score of 2-0 for the fourth consecutive time, eliminating the Colonels in the opening round of the 2021 Southland Conference Soccer Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at the Dr. Jack Dugan Family Soccer Stadium.

The Cowgirls out-shot the Colonels 16-1, firing off eight in each half, and used a pair of first-half goals to cruise to the victory.

McNeese (13-4-2) had several missed chances early on with four shots that went wide or high before Keely Morrow's back-door header on a corner from Kiana Kukaua opened the scoring in the 31st minute. The Cowgirls doubled their lead just five minutes later when Kambrie McFarland's through-ball found Jillian Bech, who slotted one past Reagan Carter for her third goal of the year.

For the Colonels, Carter made five stops to put her over 100 on the year (104). Ester Hardardottir had the lone shot for Nicholls, resulting in a save by McNeese goalkeeper Jackie Kelly in the second half. Kelly and Emma Roccaforte split the keeper duties for the Cowgirls, which claimed their ninth straight win over the Colonels.

With the loss, Nicholls ends the season with an 0-18 record.
