THIBODAUX, La. -- Following a tough road trip in Texas last week, the Nicholls State University women's volleyball team aims to finish strong at home as the Colonels host McNeese (Thursday, Nov. 4) and HBU (Nov. 6) to close out its home schedule for the season.
Thursday's match against McNeese (13-9, 7-4 SLC) is slated for 7 p.m. while Saturday's first serve against the Huskies (18-7, 9-2 SLC), is set for 1 p.m.
The Colonels had won two in a row before suffering road losses to first-place Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UIW. Although Nicholls (9-13, 2-8 SLC) cannot catch AMCC in the standings, it still has an opportunity to better its position in the Southland Conference Tournament in two weeks in Houston. The Colonels are 1.0 game behind Northwestern State for sixth place and 2.5 behind UIW.
Sitting at 4-4 at Stopher Gym, the Colonels are searching for only their second winning record at home since 2015. Opponents are hitting only .188 against the Colonels in Thibodaux while
Emily Gauthreaux leads the team in the eight matches with 3.62 kills per set.
