Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Colonels drop road game at Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Ty Gordon scored a game-high 26 points and Manny Littles double-doubled with 11 points and 10 rebounds, but it was not near enough as Oregon State handed the Nicholls State University men's basketball team an 83-61 loss Tuesday night at Gill Coliseum.

With the loss, Nicholls dropped to 8-5 on the season while Oregon State (2-10) snapped a 10-game losing streak. The Beavers also evened the all-time series at 1-1 following the Colonels' win in 1993 in the lone previous matchup.

Gordon pushed his 20-point game streak to to six with his game-high 26, knocking down 6 of 14 from 3-point range. He and Littles were the only Colonels to score in double figures. Oregon State was led by Jarod Lucas with 24 points and former Colonel Warith Alatishe had a solid all-around game with 15 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two assists.

With the Colonels ice cold on offense in the first half, Oregon State led 15-5 after eight minutes of play. Caleb Huffman sliced through the defense for a bucket to make it a six-point game, but the Beavers went back up by double figures with 10 minutes gone by. The lead staying in double digits for the rest of the game.

Nicholls struggled shooting in the early going, hitting only 2 of 14 from 3-point range and making just 32 percent from the field in the first half. Oregon State led 41-25 at the intermission after shooting 62 percent.

The Colonels had a much improved second half of shooting at 42 percent, but could never make a run.
