HAMMOND, La. -- Following a 10-day hiatus away from official competition due to back-to-back postponements, the Nicholls State University volleyball program (0-4, 0-3 SLC) proved unable to find any offensive rhythm in the team's return to action at rival Southeastern Louisiana (3-2, 1-1 SLC), faltering to the Lady Lions in straight sets Tuesday evening at the University Center.
KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS (L 0-3)
-- After SLU quickly picked up the first set by a final 25-18 margin, the Colonels looked poised to even the match as they carried a 23-20 advantage into the final stretch of the second frame; a late rally by the Lady Lions, however, saw the Red & Gray surrender five consecutive points, allowing Southeastern Louisiana to clinch a tough 2-0 edge on the scoreboard. In spite of the SLU lead, though, Nicholls fought back deep into the third set, firing off a 7-1 run before the Lady Lions drove home the final point for the match win.
