THIBODAUX, La. -- Following a tough split with rival Southeastern Louisiana exactly one week ago, the Nicholls State University men's and women's basketball programs return home aiming to send off their senior classes on a major high note behind a pair of key Southland victories against Central Arkansas, hosting a doubleheader with the Bears on Saturday, Feb. 20 at Stopher Gym, women's tipoff slated for 2 p.m. with the men getting underway soon after at 5 p.m.

For the Red & Gray women's program (7-11, 6-5 SLC), the Colonels remain focused on bouncing back from last weekend's loss by channeling energy into Saturday's revenge opportunity against UCA (7-11, 5-5 SLC), falling earlier this year by a 14-point margin up in Conway, Ark. Notably, season points leader Chelsea Cain put together a strong performance versus the Sugar Bears, just missing a double-double behind a 20 point/nine rebound outing.

On the men's side (12-6, 9-2 SLC), the Red & Gray look to continue building on the squad's two-game league win streak after edging past SLU in overtime this past Saturday, battling Central Arkansas (3-15, 2-8 SLC) with intent on clinching a berth in the upcoming Southland Conference Tournament behind a third-straight victory. In the January edition of this matchup, however, UCA managed to take the red-hot Colonels down to the wire, losing by just two points (74-72) in the tightest win of Nicholls' eight-game victorious stretch.

UP NEXT
In a uniquely rare occurrence, the men's and women's basketball programs will host a midweek doubleheader -- the final twin bill of the season -- on Wednesday, Feb. 24 against HBU, tipoff for the women's contest tentatively slated for 6 p.m. at Stopher Gym. Earlier that same week, the women's squad will also make-up the previously-postponed away matchup at Northwestern State, trekking to Natchitoches, La. on Monday, Feb. 22 for a clash with the Lady Demons.
