THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's basketball team closes out a stretch of three games in five days, as the Colonels will take on the HBU Huskies at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24, in Stopher Gymnasium. 
 
The postponed matchup between Nicholls (8-12, 7-6 SLC) and HBU was originally set for this Thursday but will now be Game 1 of a midweek doubleheader against the Huskies. The men's squads are set to play following the women.
 
Nicholls is coming off an impressive late rally to win at Northwestern State on Monday. Trailing by nine with five minutes remaining, the Colonels outscored NSU 18-2 the rest of the way to grab a 62-55 victory. 
 
Sophomore Chelsea Cain scored a game-high 28 in the win and collected her seventh double-double on the season. She heads into the matchup as one of the top scorer/rebounders in the league, ranking second in points per game (17.2) and third in rebounds (8.2).
 
Junior guard Anna McKendree matched her career-high of 21 points and recorded the first double-double of her Colonel career with 17 rebounds, but nearly tallied a triple-double with eight steals. Along with Cain, the duo helped Nicholls register a season-high 31 offensive rebounds to negate a rough shooting first half and 17 missed free throws in the game.
 
HBU (7-8, 3-5 SLC) has dropped its last three games, including a 73-55 loss Monday at McNeese. The last win for the Huskies was also against Northwestern State. HBU took the earlier matchup in Houston against the Colonels, 70-61, to close out January.
 
Timia Jefferson is the lone Husky averaging double figures in scoring, ranking fifth in the league at 14.5 points per game. Jefferson has scored at least 10 points in every game since the season opener and poured in a career-high 28 in the win over the Colonels.
