THIBODAUX, La. -- The Nicholls State University volleyball program (1-10, 1-9 SLC) fell in the team's home finale against Southland adversary Sam Houston (9-1, 9-1 SLC), dropping a 3-0 straight-sets sweep to the Bearkats on Saturday morning at Stopher Gym.
KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS (L 0-3)
-- The Sam Houston offense managed to play from a lead for a heavy majority of each set, as the Red & Gray struggled to stick with the Bearkats down the stretch of all three frames. The opening set, in particular, sucked any potential Nicholls energy out of the building, as a quick SHSU surge led to an eventual 11-point loss for the Colonels, one of their worst set differentials of the season.
-- Individually, sophomore
Devon Bright locked down a team-best seven kills on the day while senior
Kate Hoerdemann and freshman
Yani Johnson each tacked on four apiece.
-- Meanwhile, senior
Meghan Wozniak logged, once again, a squad-high in assists, posting 13 for the match.
-- Defensively, junior Kylie Lockart, who returned to the starting lineup as the Red & Gray libero, notched a team-best 30 digs while Hoerdemann impressed with 21 of her own.
