THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University men's tennis team competed in its final match of the season against the University of New Orleans, Monday afternoon, at the Colonel Tennis Complex. The team lost 5-2.
In doubles competition, Antonio Sasso and Axel Cronje, the lone senior for the Colonels, won their doubles match, 6-3, on Cronje's Senior Day. UNO claimed a victory in court 1, but Ricardo de Sales Chaves Machado and Griffin Babineaux helped the Colonels take the doubles point with a 7-6 (7-3) win.
Omar Morsy finished conference play with a 4-1 record in singles competition with his win over the Privateers' Austin Vos, 6-4. 6-4.
Babineaux and Antoine Martin-Thiriat started their matches with 6-4 wins in set 1, but fell short in their second and tiebreaker sets 6-2, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-1, respectively.
The Colonels end their season with a 4-12, 0-5 SLC record.
