TROY, Ala. -- After overcoming an unprecedented return to the pitch this past spring in accordance with COVID-19 protocols, the Nicholls State University women's soccer program (0-0, 0-0 SLC) aims to kick off the 2021-22 athletic year with some flair as first-year head coach Robert Podeyn takes over at the helm for the Colonels, leading the Red & Gray in back-to-back contests against Troy (0-0-0, 0-0-0 Sun Belt) and South Alabama (0-0-0, 0-0-0 Sun Belt) as part of the Trojan Classic, initially launching the campaign with the host Trojans on Friday, Aug. 20 -- kickoff set for 7 p.m. -- before wrapping up the weekend versus the Jaguars on Sunday, Aug. 22 -- kickoff set for 11 a.m. -- all set at the Troy Soccer Complex in Troy, Ala.
