HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Nicholls State University women's soccer program (0-3-0, 0-0-0 SLC) fell short in a tough non-conference match at regional foe Southern Mississippi (2-1-0, 0-0-0 C-USA), faltering by a final 8-0 mark to the Golden Eagles on Thursday evening in Hattiesburg, Miss.
KEY STORYLINES & STATISTICS
-- The Golden Eagles found their rhythm on the offensive end early in the contest, picking up a quick advantage with two goals inside the first 15 minutes before extending their edge to 6-0 by the midway break. The second period featured back-to-back scores for Southern Miss within thirty seconds of one another, eventually closing out the victory at a final 8-0.

With the three-game season-opening road trek out of the way, the Red & Gray head back to Thibodaux for their home opener against North Dakota, hosting the Fighting Hawks on Monday, Aug. 30 at the Nicholls Soccer Complex, kickoff set for 1 p.m.
