BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Nicholls State University track athlete
Amiya Matthews set a new indoor record Thursday, scoring 3,373 points in the pentathlon at the Samford Multi.
Matthews set personal bests in the 60-meter hurdles (9.21 seconds) and high jump (1.61 meters). She also recorded a 9.93 meter throw in the shot put, a 5.29 in the long jump, and clocked a 2:38.16 in the 800 meter.
A native of Humble, Texas, Matthews surpassed the previous record of 3,112 held by Dominique Harris in 2008.
