Soccer Finale at Lamar Moved up to 1 p.m.

BEAUMONT, Texas - The Nicholls State University women's soccer season finale Friday at Lamar University has been moved up to 1 p.m. due to inclement weather in the forecast. The match was originally scheduled for 7 p.m.

Nicholls (2-15-1, 0-11 SLC) heads to Texas looking for its first win in conference while Lamar (12-1-2, 9-1-1 SLC), which clinched the regular season title last weekend, aims to send its seniors out with its 10th Southland victory.

The Colonels are coming off a three-match home stretch were the team was outscored 9-1. Freshman Hanah Gonzalez scored the first goal of her career in the first outing against UIW but Nicholls was shutout in the next two against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Southeastern. Gonzalez is one of eight Colonels to score a goal this season with classmate Jemma Catherwood leading the team with two goals. Senior Rami Mitchell also scored once and has a team-high four assists.

Despite taking the losses as goalkeeper, Reagan Carter had solid outings in the final two matches as she racked up a combined 24 saves. She currently leads the Southland with nearly five saves per game.

Lamar has won the last six meetings against the Colonels, including a 4-0 victory in Thibodaux in late September. LU jumped out to a fast start in the win by scoring all four goals in the first half.
