THIBODAUX, La – The Nicholls State University cross-country teams competed in the 2022 NCAA Division I South Central Regional Championships, hosted by Texas A&M in College Station, Texas at Watts Cross Country Course.

Senior Elsa Rijpstra was the first Colonel to cross the finish line in the women's 6k, clocking a time of 22:15.9 to claim 71st. Also finishing in under 23 minutes was junior Elaina Hansen, who finished with a time of 22:41.5 to place 89th.

In the men's 10k, sophomore Luke Futey was the first Colonel to finish the race with a time of 36:05 to place 154th. Freshman Chase Walker was the next Colonel to finish, posting a time of 37:31.2 to place 161st.

Each race featured 27 teams with the women's race having 179 total competitors, while the men's had 175. The Nicholls women's squad finished 20th with 534 points and the men finished 27th with 796 points.
