KENNER, La. - The Nicholls State University beach volleyball team fell in all four of its matches over the weekend at the UNO Invitational at the Coconut Beach Volleyball Complex.
On Thursday, Nicholls (0-16) was defeated by league rivals New Orleans and Southeastern, 5-0. The Sandy Colonels then fell 5-0 on Friday against North Florida before securing their second point of the season in a 4-1 loss against Spring Hill College in the finale.
Despite still not having a team victory, Nicholls pushed three of the courts to a third set over the weekend.
Kylie Lockhart and
Emily Gauthreaux came up short at No. 2 against New Orleans, 17-21, 21-10, 15-13 on Thursday. Friday saw Gauthreax and
Kate Hoerdemann battle at No. 2 against North Florida, dropping a 21-8, 18-21, 15-8 decision.
In the final match versus Spring Hill College,
Kennedi Steele and
Katie Jones defeated Emily Weinzapfel and Brooke Borgmeyer, 17-21, 21-12, 15-8. The victory was the first for Steele this season, while Jones had the program's previous win against New Orleans.
