BATON ROUGE, La. - The Nicholls State University beach volleyball program closed its regular season with four matches in LSU's Battle on the Bayou.
Although Nicholls (1-23) dropped all four matches, the duo of
Emily Gauthreaux and
Kylie Lockhart earned a victory against Southeastern Friday on the No. 2 court.
The Colonels opened play with a 5-0 loss to nationally-ranked LSU, before falling to the Lady Lions 4-1. Gauthreaux/Lockhart won their match 12-21, 21-19, 15-11 against
Hannah Barosh/Michelle Mirarchi.
On Saturday, Nicholls fell 5-0 against Central Arkansas and New Orleans. Despite coming up short on all 10 courts, Aspen Steele and Kate Hoerdemann highlighted the day with a three-set loss at No. 4 against Central Arkansas.
UP NEXT
Nicholls will head to Houston next weekend for the Southland Conference Championship, set to begin on Friday, April 22. The tournament is double-elimination with the winner advancing to the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
