MONROE, La. - Amari Godette clocked two personal bests and took first place in the 200-meter dash as the Nicholls State University track and field program concluded its outdoor regular season in the ULM Warhawk Classic.
A native of Lake Charles, Godette ran a 21.05 in the 200 to win by four one-hundredths of a second. In the 100, he posted a 10.27 for a third-place finish.
In the 1500-meter,
Randy Canady and
Preston Whisenhunt each recorded personal bests. Canady beat his time by more than a second with a 4:02.35 which was good for second place. Whisenhunt took fourth with a 4:06.56.
Rounding out for the top performers for the men,
Miles Kanipe placed third in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a 10:32.17.
On the women's side,
Omo Oboh ran the fastest time of her career in the 100-meter hurdles with a 13.72. Her time placed her second out of 15 runners.
Megan Nevlud also took second in the 1500-meter with a 4:46.88.
Third-place finishes by the Colonels were
Hailey Alcorn with a 57.17 in the 400-meter, and
Amiya Matthews recorded a 1.57 meter in the high jump. Alcorn, Matthews,
Kiara Bethley and
Keiondra Narcisse teamed up in the 4x100 relay and posted a 47.66.
