NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Nicholls State University sophomore
Iradi Blasco highlighted the Colonels effort at the 2026 Southland Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships as she secured the bronze medal in the high jump.
Blasco soared 1.70 meters to earn her first outdoor bronze medal. Earlier this year she claimed the bronze medal at the SLC Indoor Championships. Blasco's best leap of the outdoor season was 1.75m which is tied for 50th in the nation.
On the track, Nisaiah Bennett continued his excellent season as he placed fifth in the men's 200m race with a time of 20.72 to secure four points.
Issy Rivault earned three points as she placed sixth in the women's 3000m steeplechase with a time 11:18.42.
The Colonels also had multiple people score in the field.
Jenna Cicherski launched the javelin 38.95m to place eighth in the women's javelin.
Connor Gil posted a 7.09m mark in the men's long jump to claim eighth place and one point.
Benjamin Rodrigue placed seventh in the men's triple jump with a 14.59m leap to claim two points.
Overall, the women's unit finished with 10 points and one sport ahead of New Orleans while men's team finished with seven points.
