THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University soccer team will make the long trip to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a Friday night contest and head back to host Lamar University on Sunday at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex. Kickoffs are scheduled for 7 p.m. in Corpus Christi and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Nicholls (2-6-1, 0-2 SLC) has enjoyed succuss at home this season with a pair of nonconference victories but is still searching for its first road win. The Colonels post an 0-3 record away from Thibodaux; however, the Red and Gray did claim a draw in a neutral match against Hawai'i Pacific. Nicholls has dropped 27 consecutive matches on the road with the last win coming in 2019.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (5-3, 2-1 SLC) is coming off two straight league wins after dropping the opener against Lamar. The Islanders are also looking for their fifth victory over the Colonels in a span of six meetings. The lone exception was a 0-0 draw in the Spring '21 season.
Lamar has had a strong start to the season, racking up a 6-0-1 record overall with a 3-0 mark in conference. The Cardinals have allowed just three goals all season while tallying 18.
LU also carries a winning streak against the Colonels, winning the last four. Nicholls claimed a tie in 2016 and earned their last win versus Lamar in 2014.
