THIBODAUX, La. - For the second straight season, the Nicholls State University women's basketball team suffered a season sweep against rival Northwestern State as the Colonels fell to the Lady Demons for the second time in a week, dropping a 76-64 decision Saturday afternoon at Stopher Gymnasium. 

Northwestern State (7-8, 3-2 SLC) used a 19-4 run that spanned from the first to second quarter to build a double-digit advantage and never looked back. The Colonels (4-12, 1-4 SLC) trailed by as much as 20 before scoring the final seven points to make the final.

After shooting a season-high 63 percent in Thursday's overtime win at Lamar, the Colonels made just 34 percent from the field and 3 of 15 from 3-point range. Lexi Alexander (23) and Deonna Brister (20) turned in consecutive outings with at least 20 points, while Alexander notched her fourth double-double as she grabbed 12 rebounds. Despite accounting for two-thirds of the team's points, the duo combined to make 15 of 40 from the field. 

Candice Parramore came off the bench to lead all scorers, netting 18 points to pace a trio of Lady Demons in double figures. NSU shot 42 percent for the game and made 8 of 28 from 3-point range.

Kyla Hamilton had an off night shooting for the Colonels as well as she finished 2 of 10 for four points but totaled 10 rebounds and a game-high six assists and three steals. Amelia Sandie also scored in double figures for the Red and Gray, finishing with 11 points on 4 of 9 rom the field.

Although shots didn't fall for the Colonels for most of the day, Nicholls made all 15 free throws.
