FRISCO, Texas – Nicholls State University sophomore forward Lexi Alexander has been named to the 2023 Southland Women's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Second Team, as the league office announced Tuesday.
 
Alexander is coming off an impressive rookie season where she earned 2022 SLC Freshman of the Year and was tabbed All-Louisiana Second Team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA).
 
The Round Rock, Texas native, ranked fourth in the Southland in scoring at 13.8 points per game, third in rebounding (8.4) and fifth in blocks (1.1). She tied for second in the league with eight double-doubles, with six coming in conference play. 
 
Additionally for the season, Alexander shot .436 from the field and averaged 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals. She also led the Colonels with 84 made free throws, shooting at 64.1 percent at the stripe. 
 
Nicholls will begin the season under first-year head coach Justin Payne at home inside Stopher Gym on Nov. 6 as they host North American University.
 
The league office also announced its preseason polls for the upcoming season as part of Media Day.
