THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University volleyball team will travel to New Orleans to battle UNO on Thursday, Oct. 5 and then host Lamar on Saturday, Oct. 7.
The match against UNO will be available to stream via ESPN+ at 6:30 p.m. while Saturday's action from Stopher Gym begins at 11 a.m.
NICHOLLS COURT (2-13, 0-5 SLC)
The Colonels enter the weekend looking to snap a losing streak after being swept by Southland Conference leader Southeastern and UIW.
The Red & Gray is led by all around freshman outside hitter
Autumn Perry who leads the squad in kills with 116, and service aces with 16. She also ranks third in blocks and digs with 26 and 104.
Also stuffing the stat sheet for the Colonels is junior outside hitter
Trinity Vinzant who has 105 kills and 122 digs.
Nicholls offense is paced by a pair of setters. Junior
Kendall Battistella leads the way with 189 assists, while freshman
Berra Soyler adds 124.
The Colonel defense is anchored by sophomore defensive specialist
Gabrielle Barth who posts a team-high 128 digs. In the middle, sophomore
Paris Dixon and senior
Jhayla Bolden have 39 and 31 blocks, respectively.
UNO COURT (3-13, 1-4 SLC)
Last weekend the Privateers ended an eight-match slide and picked up their first league victory over Lamar (3-0).
UNO's offense is led by Karen Cordero Barr who has 156 kills followed by Ryan Williams with 95. The attack features three setters with at least 100 assists. Defene Eciroglu has 171, Vera Beltrame has 152, and Claire Turner has 104.
The Privateer's defense is anchored by Cordero Barr and Lani Alleman who have 123 and 115 digs. In the middle, Ava Kennon and Sydney Gott has 25 and 20 blocks respectively.
LAMAR COURT (0-16, 0-5 SLC)
The Cardinals suffered their second five set loss in league agaisnt to Northwestern State before being swept by UNO.
Lamar is led by two-way standout Wiktoria Warpechowska who leads the team with 48 blocks and is second on the team in kills (105), and third in service aces (12). Lyric Jordan leads the unit in kills with 126, while Jo Moffitt and Jodie Edmonds pace the offense with 297 and 131 assists, respectively.
Three Cardinals have more than 100 digs. Kaeden Robinson has 143, Freedom Stephenson has 137, and Taisha Rhone has 117. Gracie Cassidy is second on the team in blocks with 27.
