THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University volleyball will host UNO on Thursday, Nov. 9 and conclude the regular season at HCU on Saturday, Nov. 11.
NICHOLLS COURT (4-22, 2-14 SLC)
Last week the Colonels beat Texas A&M-Commerce 3-1 to sweep the season series with the Lions and fell in four sets to Lamar.
The Colonels offense is led by two freshmen outside hitters that have over 150 kills this season and two setters that have over 300 assists.
Autumn Perry leads the team in kills (217), digs (162), and service aces (26).
Gracie Campbell has tallied 157 kills and has five double-doubles. Junior setter
Kendall Battistella has 395 assists and 145 digs, while freshman setter
Berra Soyler adds 310 assists.
The Colonel defense is anchored by senior middle blocker
Jhayla Bolden and sophomore middle blocker
Paris Dixon who have 66 and 65 blocks, respectively. Junior defensive specialist
Rae Leano has dawned the libero duties and is second on the team in digs with 152.
UNO COURT (6-21, 4-12 SLC)
The Privateers enter the weekend after beating UIW in five sets and falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. After battling with the Colonels, they will conclude the regular season against Lamar on Saturday, Nov. 11.
UNO's offense features a trio of individuals with 100 kills and 100 assists.
Karen Cordero Barr leads the team with 275 kills, 212 digs, and 26 service aces. Ryan Williams has the second most kills with 153 followed by Courtney Roundtree with 121. The offense is paced by Define Eciroglu (363 assists), Vera Beltrame (287 assists), and Claire Turner (116 assists).
Lani Alleman leads the squad in digs (234) while Tatiana Mercer adds 154. In the middle Roundtree leads the team in blocks with 47, followed Sydney Gott with 37.
HCU COURT (16-12, 11-5 SLC)
The Huskies enter the weekend on a three-match winning streak, including road wins over Northwestern State and Texas A&M-Commerce. HCU will host McNeese on Thursday before hosting the Colonels on Saturday.
The Huskies' offense, that features three attackers that have more than 250 kills, is ran by setter Gracie McLaughlin who has 813 assists. Cassidy Drapela leads the team with 286 kills, followed by Sara Arroyo (269) and Audrey Pearce (260).
The HCU defense is led by Kailey Faris who has 428 digs followed by Alexia Jones (269), Tatiana Evans (223), and McLaughlin has tallied 221. In the middle, Pearce leads unit with 112 blocks, while Lexie Temple has 84.
