TROY, Alabama - The Nicholls State University tennis teams traveled to Troy State on Sunday and both squads fell 4-0 to the Trojans at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
For the women, Troy (3-0) swept doubles play for a 1-0 lead and went on to take the first two completed singles matches in straight sets.
Carla Bouygues won her opening set at No. 5 against Maria Guirguis, but she went on to suffer her first loss, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
Laura Lopez also won her opening set at No. 6 but the match was unfinished.
In the men's match, Troy (8-0) also won the doubles point, however,
Ilian Borlee and
Harry Collins were a point away from a victory at 5-2 before play was suspended.
In singles, Troy won all three matches in straight sets.
Omar Morsy took his first loss of the season, dropping both sets 6-2 against Mario Martinez. Borlee won his opening set, 6-4, but his match went unfinished.Â
UP NEXT
The women's team will head to Lafayette, Louisiana next weekend for two matches against UL and Houston. The men will have the weekend off before hosting Mississippi Valley State on Feb. 24.Â
