FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls State University guard
Caleb Huffman has been named Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The honor is the third for the Colonels this season and first for Huffman's career.
A native of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Huffman averaged 24.0 points on 59 percent shooting, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals in the Colonels' two wins over New Orleans and Southeastern. Huffman made five of his career-high six 3-pointers in the second half against the Lions, scoring 22 points after the break to match his career-high of 31 points in the comeback win.
In the blowout victory over New Orleans, Huffman was 8-9 from the field for 17 points and totaled eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.
For the season, Huffman ranks fifth in the Southland in scoring at 15.9 points per game and is third in field goal percentage at 54.3 percent. He also is second in steals with 2.0 per contest.

Nicholls will not leave Louisiana for the rest of its schedule, starting with a three-game home stretch. The Colonels will be looking to avenge an earlier road loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, hosting the Islanders on Thursday, Feb. 16. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
